Martin Heim: “Beginnings in fresh snow.”
“In my 20 years at Waterjet”, operations manager Martin Heim recalls, “there have been dramatic, but also enjoyable moments.” Things began dramatically when his previous job disappeared. A bankruptcy. He was hired at Walter Maurer’s new company, Waterjet, through a Waterjet employee.
“I still remember my first day on the job quite well. First came the drama. Then the fun.” He was supposed to start working for Waterjet on January 2, 1995. Since Berchtoldstag (January 2) is traditionally a legal holiday in the canton of Bern, Martin Heim asked the boss if he had made a mistake with his starting date. Walter Maurer replied matter of factly that of course they were open for business on January 2. So Martin Heim battled his way through a half a meter of fresh snow in the early morning... (...)
